Editorial Policy

This page explains how content on BuyHolidayStamps.com is researched, written, checked, and maintained. It exists so readers can see what stands behind a guide before relying on it — especially when the guide involves postage rates, mailing rules, or dates.

The site is edited by James Miller, a retired U.S. Postal Service employee whose career was in commercial mail. He is responsible for the accuracy standards described on this page; his background is introduced on the About Us page.

Our Purpose

BuyHolidayStamps.com is an informational website about holiday mailing, postage, greeting cards, and business correspondence in the United States. It is not a store, it does not sell stamps, and it is not affiliated with the United States Postal Service. Content is written to be useful to readers first; commercial references never take priority over accurate, complete guidance.

How Content Is Researched

  • Official sources first. Statements about USPS rates, services, size and weight limits, addressing standards, and holiday schedules are based on USPS’s own publications — its official website, service guides, price and product information, and news releases. The specific sources we rely on are listed on Sources & References.
  • Specific pages, not homepages. A factual claim is traced to the official page that actually supports it, not to a general link.
  • Current information. Postal rates, deadlines, and rules change. Before publication, changing facts are verified against the latest official information available, and pages carrying them are rechecked as described in our Content Updates Policy.
  • Uncertainty is stated. If USPS has not announced a particular holiday deadline yet, the page says so. Editorial safety margins and planning suggestions are labeled as recommendations and are never presented as official USPS deadlines.

Writing Standards

  • Guides answer a defined question, give the direct answer early, and explain exceptions and edge cases rather than hiding them.
  • Content is original. We do not copy text from USPS or other publishers, spin articles, or publish near-duplicate pages aimed at slightly different keywords.
  • We do not fabricate experience, credentials, statistics, reviews, or testimonials. Message examples and templates in the Letter Writing Library are written for this site and presented as examples, not as quotations from real correspondence.
  • Industry-specific content (for example, mailing guidance for real estate, healthcare, schools, or nonprofits) is based on that audience’s real communication needs, timing, and constraints — not on swapping an industry name into a generic template.

Product and Buying References

Some pages explain where readers can buy postage stamps. Those references follow the list on the Stamp Buying Guide page and are kept factual: we do not invent prices, discounts, or stock availability, claim that any seller is endorsed by USPS, or publish rankings or “reviews” that were not actually performed. A page remains fully useful to a reader who buys nothing.

Images

Photographs come primarily from Pexels, a licensed stock photography library, and image sources are recorded when a page is produced. We never use generated or stock images to depict an actual USPS stamp issue or product as if it were the real item; specific real stamp designs are only shown with verified images and appropriate rights.

Corrections

Errors can reach us through the Contact Us page. Reported problems are checked against official sources; when a page is wrong, it is corrected, and the correction is part of the page’s normal update history. Readers who need an official answer on a rate or rule should always confirm it with USPS, whose publications control in case of any difference.
